Chapter One: The Calamity of Exile (Part Two)
Brothers, next week this book will be strongly recommended. At least two updates every day. I hope everyone will support me. Thank you. But don’t forget to vote now, haha.
After hearing this, Zixia sighed deeply and said, “I really don’t know whether to say you’re lucky or just foolish. Do you think the egg of a cosmic beast is so easy to obtain?”
After a pause, Zixia continued, “They say that giant tortoise, after driving away another cosmic beast and destroying the fortresses of Carro and Gil, was seriously wounded. Still, I’m certain that once it recovers, it will follow the trail you left and catch up with you. What do you plan to do?”
Kuangchi smiled indifferently and said, “Who cares what happens. Zixia, do you think this egg is beautiful? Isn’t that giant tortoise beautiful?”
Zixia couldn’t help but laugh. “The egg truly is beautiful. I’ve seen the images published of that giant tortoise, and it’s indeed very beautiful—just a bit too large.”
Kuangchi grinned. “That big tortoise is a bit too big, but the little tortoise inside this egg isn’t so large. Don’t you think it would make a good pet?”
Zixia smacked Kuangchi’s head sharply and said, “You’re foolish! If you dare raise a cosmic-level beast as a pet, do you realize how many people will be jealous? I promise you’ll be beset by endless trouble.”
Kuangchi laughed. “I’m not afraid of trouble. Whoever messes with me, I’ll smash them.”
Zixia, finally diverting her attention from the egg, pressed further, “Fatty, I heard you’ve cultivated the Mad Dragon Technique to the seventh layer, right? And you’ve also learned the Starry Sky Technique?”
Kuangchi nodded repeatedly, then struck a narcissistic pose. “Zixia, am I awesome or what?”
Zixia snorted coldly. “Awesome, yes, but your reputation isn’t so great. Do you know what nickname the nobles in the imperial capital have given you?”
Kuangchi, hearing he had a nickname, urged eagerly, “Tell me, quickly!”
In human society, only those whose martial prowess is acknowledged by others are likely to receive a nickname, and such names aren’t given lightly. They must be announced at large gatherings by influential noble families to be recognized.
“Blood Sea Butcher,” Zixia said irritably.
Kuangchi’s face changed instantly, then he roared, “Damn it, who gave me that name? Damn it, I’ll wipe them out!”
Zixia snorted again, saying nothing more, then added, “These days, several imperial ministers are arguing about how you should be punished. You’d better stay quietly in your room for now.”
Kuangchi nodded, then casually asked, “How’s that pretty boy?”
Zixia laughed. “What do you think? You got the Starry Sky Technique for your Kuang family, and their strength keeps growing. The elders in your family are all declaring they’ll teach the Hyde family a lesson. Hyde wouldn’t dare make trouble now—they’ve already recalled Bill, who’s reportedly in seclusion.”
Kuangchi was stunned, then after some thought asked, “How’s Phoebe?”
Zixia smiled. “What do you think? I hear you keep insisting on breaking off your engagement. The Karachi family isn’t what it used to be. Phoebe’s grandfather has assigned people to guard her every day.”
At this point, Zixia chuckled and said, “Did you really threaten your father with the Starry Sky Technique to make him agree to your breaking off the engagement before handing it over?”
Kuangchi nodded with a smile.
Unexpectedly, Zixia smacked his head again. “How can you be like this? Never mind how important the Starry Sky Technique is to your Kuang family—you, as the heir, can’t be so selfish. And how can you shout about breaking off the engagement in public? Aren’t you giving Phoebe and the Karachi family no face at all? You!”
Saying this, Zixia knocked him on the head again, the gesture resembling a mother teaching her child.
The next day, Kuangchi’s father summoned Zixia and Kuangchi to the main base of the Kuang family on Imperial Star.
As soon as a dozen people were seated in the conference room, Kuangchi’s father, wearing a face full of sorrow, said to Zixia, “Zixia, this troublemaker has stirred up a huge mess again. We had hoped he could spend more time with you, but it seems that’s impossible now.”
Zixia’s brows furrowed. “What’s happened?”
Kuangchi’s father glared fiercely at Kuangchi, then sighed. “Dozens of major families in the Empire have jointly petitioned His Majesty the Emperor to severely punish this troublemaker.”
Zixia couldn’t help but exclaim in shock.
Kuangchi’s father continued, “Though our Kuang family, along with the Karachi family and Sword Gate, have tried to mediate, the results are not promising. This time, the losses and consequences caused by this troublemaker are too serious—tens of thousands of elite troops and a border fortress the Empire spent thousands of years building. Not only the families already at odds with us, but even within our Kuang family, there’s much dissatisfaction.”
Zixia nodded, fully aware of these circumstances.
Kuangbao thought for a moment before saying, “Zixia, Fatty is very likely to be sentenced to exile, and it won’t be a short term. As the Kuang family’s heir, if he’s exiled, it will greatly affect his standing. Our original plan was for you to handle family affairs after Fatty became the head, but now this has happened.”
He paused, then continued, “I’ve already discussed this with the two elders from Sword Gate on Imperial Star. We want to arrange your marriage to Fatty before his sentence is decided. What do you think?”
Zixia looked strangely at the astonished Kuangchi beside her, then asked, “How long might Fatty be exiled?”
Kuangbao lowered his head and pondered, then said, “Fatty is our Kuang family’s heir, and our family still holds some influence in the Empire. According to noble tradition, a family heir shouldn’t leave the family’s protection. Though the trouble he caused is grave, there’s still room for argument. Whether the cosmic giant tortoise was truly hunting Kuangchi is not conclusive. Exile is certain, but it should have a set term—if not, it would force our Kuang family out of Carro Empire.”
Zixia fell into contemplation once more. Seeing this, Kuangchi’s father hurriedly added, “Zixia, originally, your marriage to Fatty would allow you to directly handle Kuang family affairs—Fatty isn’t capable of managing the whole family. This marriage must happen; we just want to do it now so it’s more convenient for you to manage things later. Don’t you agree? The two elders from Sword Gate think so too.”
Zixia glanced at Kuangchi, then said, “I have no objections. It’s entirely up to you.”
