Clatter, clatter...
Rat-tat-tat...
The battle was utterly one-sided.
Before long, Li Yunlong led the Snow Leopard Special Forces team to eliminate over a hundred enemy soldiers.
The formidable combat prowess of the Snow Leopard Special Forces utterly stunned the five members of the Fifth Special Agent Group.
The battle concluded.
Li Yunlong immediately issued an order: “Everyone, swiftly clean up the battlefield!”
Upon hearing Li Yunlong’s command, the Snow Leopard Special Forces sprang into action.
At this moment, the five members of the Fifth Special Agent Group finally regained their composure.
Gao Han had already rushed over to the other four, asking with concern, “Are you all alright?”
Ma Yunfei glanced at his three comrades, then shook his head, saying, “We’re fine. Just some superficial wounds, nothing life-threatening.”
Then Ma Yunfei turned to Gao Han and asked, “Where did you find these reinforcements? There are only about thirty of them, yet their combat ability is so strong.”
“I’ve never heard of the Eighth Route Army having such a powerful unit.”
“I just happened to encounter them,” Gao Han blinked and replied, “I was also injured, lying powerless by the roadside, and it was Captain Li who saved me.”
“Captain Li said he’s from the New First Regiment of the Eighth Route Army.”
“Let’s go thank them properly for saving our lives,” Ouyang Jianping said.
“If they hadn’t arrived so suddenly, I’m afraid we would have all died here.”
The other four nodded in full agreement.
Then Ouyang Jianping and the four others approached Li Yunlong together.
“Greetings, Captain Li. I’m Ouyang Jianping, their team leader,” Ouyang Jianping smiled slightly and expressed his gratitude, “Thanks to your righteous intervention, Captain Li, we would have surely perished otherwise.”
“We cannot repay such a life-saving debt. If Captain Li ever needs our help, just say the word... As long as it doesn’t violate principles, we’ll go through fire and water without complaint.”
“No need for such formalities...” Li Yunlong waved his hand dismissively, “Anyone who opposes the enemy is my friend. Since you’re friends, how could I not help?”
“So you don’t need to thank me. If you really want to, then just kill more of the enemy later.”
“Captain Li, your sense of justice is truly admirable!” Ouyang Jianping admired Li Yunlong, “To befriend you and be regarded as your friend is our good fortune.”
Ma Yunfei laughed heartily, “Captain Li, I’m definitely counting you as a friend!”
The others in the Fifth Special Agent Group also expressed their gratitude to Li Yunlong.

After the pleasantries,
Li Yunlong spoke directly, “All of you have injuries. If you don’t mind, why not come with me to the New First Regiment’s base to recover and rest?”
“You’re not in any condition to leave recklessly right now.”
Hearing this, Ouyang Jianping fell into thought.
Suddenly, Ma Yunfei said, “I think Captain Li’s suggestion is good.”
“We’re already being watched by the enemy. If we return to our original quarters rashly, they’ll hunt us down again. But if we don’t return, we have nowhere to go.”
“So rather than agonize here, let’s first recuperate at Captain Li’s base, then consider what to do next.”
Ouyang Jianping nodded in agreement, approving Ma Yunfei’s suggestion.
Then he looked at Li Yunlong gratefully, “Thank you, Captain Li, for offering us shelter. We’ll likely be staying with the New First Regiment for a while.”
“No problem,” Li Yunlong smiled faintly and waved his hand nonchalantly.
After the Snow Leopard Special Forces finished cleaning the battlefield, Li Yunlong and his group set off again, heading back toward Jin-Sui Town.
...
The next day.
Li Yunlong and his group finally returned to Jin-Sui Town.
Han Chun-yun and others came out to greet them upon receiving the news.
Li Yunlong directly ordered Han Chun-yun, “Chun-yun, take these five anti-Japanese fighters down to recover and rest. Arrange a better room for them so they can stay comfortably in Jin-Sui Town.”
“Yes!” Han Chun-yun immediately acknowledged the order.
The five from the Fifth Special Agent Group were somewhat surprised; they had not expected the Eighth Route Army to have a base in Jin-Sui Town, and it looked quite well managed.
Soon after, under Han Chun-yun’s guidance, Ouyang Jianping and the others settled in Jin-Sui Town.
...
Yang Village, Independent Regiment base.
Ding Wei had already received orders as the newly appointed regiment commander and arrived at the Independent Regiment.
Kong Jie naturally cooperated with Ding Wei to complete the handover.
However, Kong Jie’s mood was clearly sour.
Although he had mentally prepared for criticism when reporting their battle results truthfully, the reality was still hard to accept, and his heart was heavy.
Ding Wei, Kong Jie, and Li Yunlong were all comrades who came up through the same rookie unit, so their bond was strong.

Outside the Independent Regiment’s office,
Ding Wei patted Kong Jie on the shoulder, “Alright, I know you’re feeling wronged, Old Kong.”
“But what’s done is done, and it was your choice.”
“Don’t worry, the General Headquarters knows this isn’t entirely your fault. Still, the Independent Regiment did suffer a defeat, so the headquarters has to make an example to alert other units.”
“I believe it won’t be long before you regain your position as regiment commander.”
“Stop comforting me,” Kong Jie shook his head helplessly, “I know I’m being punished strictly.”
“I’m not resentful, just unhappy.”
Then Kong Jie said to Ding Wei, “Alright, you’re the new commander now. You should call the brigade commander to report in.”
“I won’t keep you any longer.”
At this point, the Independent Regiment had already connected the telephone line.
Hearing this, Ding Wei said, “Alright then, let’s talk later. Don’t rush to leave.”
With that, Ding Wei went inside to make the call.
On the phone, Ding Wei not only reported but also requested the brigade commander to keep Kong Jie as his deputy regiment commander.
This was originally Li Yunlong’s role in the original storyline.
As expected, the brigade commander agreed, and so Kong Jie remained.
That evening,
Kong Jie and Ding Wei sat at the table, drinking and chatting.
“Old Ding, thank you,” Kong Jie sincerely said. “Honestly, I really miss the brothers in the Independent Regiment.”
“Being a deputy regiment commander here isn’t bad either.”
“We’re comrades, whether commander or deputy, it’s the same,” Ding Wei laughed. “We’ll work together on the Independent Regiment’s affairs from now on.”
Changing the subject, Ding Wei casually said, “Old Kong, I heard about that special forces group that attacked Yang Village. Truly remarkable.”
“I also saw their equipment—it’s top-notch!”
“But what interests me most is that mysterious unit that wiped out the special forces.”
“Is there any news yet about that mysterious unit that eliminated the enemy special forces in Yangshu Valley?”
