Chapter 81: An Unpleasant Morning
Guo Minghao came from the countryside.
However, his cousin's family was much better off than his, so after arriving in Shenzhen, the disparity between them left him feeling deeply unbalanced.
He envied and resented his cousin, yet he desperately needed him, torn by intense contradictions within his heart.
He was displeased at being assigned by his cousin to supervise the plug-in assembly group.
He wanted to work in an office, to enjoy the feeling of ordering workers around in the human resources department.
But there was no choice now; Chen Ni wanted to fire him, so he could only retreat to the factory floor to lay low.
All of this was caused by that kid, so after learning last night that Chai Jin had invited Chen Ni for a soda, he began stirring up trouble everywhere.
First, he wanted his cousin to ruin Chai Jin.
Second, if not, then Chai Jin would end up ruining his cousin.
No matter which outcome, he would find satisfaction in it.
He was an extremely dark-hearted petty man.
This morning, as soon as he arrived, he made a point of coming to the plug-in assembly group.
He was in charge of more than thirty people.
Three team leaders stood at the front, and just because one of them yawned when he came in that morning, Guo Minghao scolded him mercilessly.
His authority was immense, as if he wished everyone in the factory to know about it.
Workers entering one after another saw this scene and hurried to avoid it.
Where they had previously been chatting and laughing, now they fell silent.
The atmosphere of the assembly line turned oppressive.
Chai Jin and his two companions arrived as well. Old Huang, with his stomach sticking out and hair slicked with mousse shining brilliantly, stood with his hands behind his back.
At first glance, he looked more like a leader than the leaders themselves, the aura of former authority still lingering.
Chai Jin and Liu Shan followed quietly behind.
As the three entered, Guo Minghao's scolding of the team leaders grew louder.
"Look at your employees! Do they even look like they're working? This is all because of you!"
A barrage of far-fetched accusations poured out, making those below inexplicably angry.
Only the three men ignored him, walking straight past without so much as a glance.
Guo Minghao, furious, raised his voice even more.
Still, the three paid him no heed.
It seemed Guo Minghao was determined to pick a fight with them; he slapped the table and shouted, "Hey, you with the big belly, stop right there!"
Old Huang turned back in surprise. "Are you calling me?"
"Who else? Do you even look like you're on the job? With your slicked hair and shiny face, are you here to flirt with women or to work?"
Old Huang frowned. "Young man, don't think you're something just because you're in charge of a few people. When I managed hundreds in this factory, you were still in your mother's womb."
"Don't bother me. Everyone has tasks today, and you're wasting everyone's time here. If the higher-ups blame anyone, it'll be you."
"What attitude is that!" Guo Minghao was so angry it seemed smoke might rise from his head.
But suddenly, a voice called out from behind, "The young lady is coming to inspect the factory!"
"Everyone, get ready!"
The vast workshop immediately fell into chaos; those watching the spectacle hurried to busy themselves.
Guo Minghao was stunned for a moment.
Could his anger really continue now?
The young lady was watching him; if she saw him here, who knew what trouble might arise?
His anger toward Old Huang deflated instantly, and he rushed off to hide in the restroom.
Liu Shan couldn't help but comment, "That guy's just a cowardly turtle, not even worthy of the name."
The factory erupted with laughter.
It was obvious they looked down on Guo Minghao.
Wasn't he just the lackey of He Kai, the second-generation heir?
Chai Jin smiled quietly but said nothing.
Old Huang, looking a bit disgruntled, touched his mousse-covered hair and examined his reflection in a stainless steel frame.
"Is my image causing trouble in our factory?"
"It shouldn't, it's fine," someone replied.
Then, he winked at a woman across from him.
Liu Shan shuddered, goosebumps rising, and nudged him, "Old Huang, can't you change your tastes?"
"This aunt gives me the creeps."
"Get lost, what do you know," Old Huang retorted in annoyance.
The group began to focus on their tasks.
Sure enough, after a few minutes, the eternally exquisite Chen Ni entered the factory floor.
She was accompanied by many factory leaders, including the heir, He Kai.
Work resumed normal rhythm, as those beside Chen Ni walked and introduced various sections.
This is where such-and-such is done. The supervisor here is so-and-so.
But Chen Ni seemed distracted.
Her gaze searched the workshop, and she found Chai Jin quietly working in the corner.
A hint of a smile flashed across her face as she walked over.
He Kai, still feigning interest in the leaders’ reports, turned and saw Chen Ni heading toward the plug-in assembly group, so he hurried after her.
This left the factory management reporting their work feeling awkward, but they had no choice but to follow.
Chen Ni walked up behind Chai Jin, watched their work, and with her stunning figure bent close, seemed to breathe a fragrant whisper into Chai Jin’s ear.
"So this is how motherboards are made?"
Old Huang and Liu Shan, recognizing the young lady, quickly stood up straight.
Old Huang could scold a lackey supervisor, but he had no courage to confront the young lady, knowing a single word from her could cost him his job.
Chai Jin glanced back, then replied calmly, "You manage this factory, yet you don’t know how motherboards are made?"
The factory leaders nearby grew anxious.
One quickly stepped forward, lowered his voice, and scolded, "How can you speak to the young lady like that? Apologize at once."
Everyone treated Chen Ni with meek reverence.
It stemmed from a meeting the previous night. This girl, barely in her twenties, appeared gentle, harmless, and kind.
But when ruthless, she was truly terrifying.
Last night’s board meeting, she had immediately dismissed two idle directors.
She’d also fired thirty department supervisors from the management.
However, the workers below had no access to the upper levels, so no one knew.
Now, to see an ordinary worker dare to retort the young lady, how could they not be afraid?
He Kai came over, and seeing it was Chai Jin, remembered the message and grew furious.
He demanded, "Who’s your team leader? Step forward!"
The team leader’s face twisted in misery.
Hadn’t she just been scolded? What bad luck—first by the supervisor, now by the boss’s son.
However, Chen Ni frowned, straightened, and turned to look at them, no longer the gentle, obedient girl, but rather a domineering female CEO, commanding without question:
"Is this how you make such a fuss over trivial matters?"
"Everyone, return to your posts. I’ll stay here and observe; do not disturb me."
