In the early morning, Chen Feng awoke from his sleep feeling refreshed and alert. These days, he hardly needed much rest at all; in fact, just two hours of deep sleep each night was more than enough to keep him sharp and energetic throughout the day.

He bounced out of bed in a single leap, his body jiggling with every movement, but he paid it no mind. He believed that the six-pack abs hidden beneath his layers of fat would one day see the light again.

After getting out of bed, Chen Feng went through his morning routine. By then, his parents were already up and busy preparing breakfast.

“Mom!” Chen Feng greeted his mother cheerfully.

“Chen Feng, why are you up so early? Why not sleep a bit more in your room?” his mother, Xiao Sufen, looked at her son with a gentle affection tinged with guilt. If they hadn’t taken him to that unscrupulous doctor back then, maybe Chen Feng wouldn’t be so self-conscious now.

“No need, Mom. I feel great, I’m wide awake already!” Chen Feng replied with a bright smile.

He used to struggle to get out of bed in the morning, always lacking energy. But after receiving the Super Soldier Serum—like Captain America—yesterday, his vitality was overflowing. Even if he wanted to, he couldn’t sleep any longer.

“Chen Feng, you’re up early today?” his father, Chen Ze, was surprised as well.

Chen Feng nodded, and for once, the family of three sat down together for a rare breakfast. As he ate, Chen Feng turned to his father and asked, “Dad, could you give me two hundred yuan? I think I’ve lost some weight lately. I want to buy a few new clothes.”

“You’ve lost weight?” Chen Ze looked at his son in surprise. Indeed, he noticed Chen Feng did seem slimmer than before.

Although they lived together, the family rarely saw each other. When Chen Feng left for school each morning, his parents were already at work; when he returned, they were often working late or so exhausted they’d gone straight to bed. Meals together like this were rare.

Now, seeing his son had lost about eight pounds, Chen Ze understood. Without hesitating, he handed Chen Feng two crisp bills.

Chen Feng had always been a well-behaved child. His grades weren’t stellar, but he never caused trouble or worried his parents. He was sensible and considerate.

So, whenever Chen Feng asked for money, Chen Ze usually didn’t refuse, and it really was time for some new clothes. Chen Feng had a hunch that he’d slim down completely in a month or two at most. Already, his clothes seemed a size too large.

After breakfast, Chen Feng headed off to school, and along the way, he ran into Fang Yue. The two chatted and laughed as they walked together.

Having informed his homeroom teacher, Sun Minghai, in advance, Chen Feng skipped class and headed to the school track instead. In the past, he’d exercise for an hour, but it was always stop-and-go. Now, however, Chen Feng felt no fatigue, striding forward in powerful, energetic steps.

Although he was still overweight, his physical condition was far better than most. His running speed was impressive, and even at full sprint, he hardly felt tired.

Still, after a while, exhaustion inevitably crept in. Even Captain America would tire after prolonged, intense activity. The Super Soldier Serum didn’t make one immune to fatigue; it merely gave the body extraordinary endurance.

As he ran, sweat soaked through his clothes, but Chen Feng didn’t pause for a moment. He knew he was nowhere near his limit and could easily handle this level of training.

He even felt a burning sensation, as if his body was aflame—a faint echo of the pain from when he’d first received the serum, though far less intense.

After a full three hours, maintaining his top speed, Chen Feng finally felt his strength waning. Only then did he slow gradually and come to a stop.

Next, he assumed a stance and began practicing Wing Chun. While Jeet Kune Do focused more on practical combat, Wing Chun combined both training forms for health and combat techniques for offense.

After such intense exercise, Chen Feng regulated his breathing, following the principles of Wing Chun to restore his energy, letting his body find stillness naturally, without forcing his focus on his dantian.

This stage of entering a meditative state was often the most difficult, but for Chen Feng, it came effortlessly. He hadn’t built up to it step by step—he had simply extracted the skill, making it his own. With a bit of thought, he grasped the essentials immediately.

Bit by bit, Chen Feng felt his body recovering rapidly; his stamina replenished at an astonishing rate. An hour later, by midday, he was fully recovered and even sensed that his strength had grown slightly.

Patting his stomach, Chen Feng thought that if he kept this up, he’d be slim in no time.

“Incoming students, from today onward, Chen Feng is joining our basketball team. Let’s give him a warm welcome!” In the afternoon, Chen Ping introduced Chen Feng to the rest of the school’s basketball team.

“Hello, everyone!” Chen Feng greeted them politely.

No one objected to his joining. Despite his size, his basketball skills were undeniable—after all, that fierce slam dunk was enough to stun everyone.

If anyone doubted him, they were welcome to try a dunk themselves.

“Chen Feng, hello. I’m Fang Chenghao, the team captain. Welcome to the basketball team!” After a moment, a tall young man, nearly two meters in height, strode forward and shook Chen Feng’s hand.

Fang Chenghao was a senior, towering and burly like a giant. He was also the team’s star player.

“Nice to meet you!” Chen Feng replied warmly, shaking his hand. “It’s a pleasure.”

“You’re being modest. To be honest, your skills might surpass mine. With you on the team, you could be our ace in the future!” Fang Chenghao said with a smile.

“Ace?” At this, Lin Hang, standing to the side, raised his eyebrows slightly. That title was supposed to be his.

“All right, let’s get to know each other. For now, Chen Feng won’t be joining regular practice sessions; I’ll be putting him through some preliminary training,” Chen Ping announced. “Everyone, train as usual. Chen Feng, come with me!”

Chen Feng nodded.

In fact, the training Chen Ping had planned for him was simple: focus on conditioning, shedding the excess fat, and building up endurance. What Chen Ping didn’t know was that Chen Feng had already been training hard all day.

“Start by running ten laps around the gym. I want to see what your stamina’s really like,” Chen Ping said after a pause.

Ten laps!

Chen Feng nodded, and before practice, he used the breathing techniques of Wing Chun to restore his energy, confident in his stamina. Ten laps were nothing to him.

He took off at a sprint, and soon, the other players stopped to watch him in awe. His speed was impressive.

Fang Chenghao did a quick calculation in his mind—he was certain he couldn’t match Chen Feng’s pace.

“Hmph, this guy is burning through all his energy right from the start. Let’s see how long he can keep it up!” Lin Hang muttered coldly. Ever since Chen Feng had bested him, he’d been looking for a chance to see him stumble.

But soon, their expressions froze. After one lap, Chen Feng’s face was calm, his breathing steady; he was only sweating, but his speed didn’t drop at all.

The second lap, the third lap!

Everyone watched in stunned silence. That kind of speed didn’t match his build at all—especially at full sprint!

Chen Ping’s jaw nearly dropped. He’d expected Chen Feng to have decent endurance, but nothing like this. Beneath all that fat, there was a hidden power as fierce as a dragon.

“Incredible!”

That was the thought in everyone’s mind.

The training continued, but Chen Feng paid no attention to their astonished gazes. The more surprised they were, the greater the benefits he reaped.

Sure enough, in just a short time, he’d already gained an achievement point.

After evening self-study, Chen Feng took a shower, washing away the day’s sweat. He felt a little slimmer already. At this rate, he’d become a campus heartthrob in less than a month.

The thought brought a wicked little grin to his face.

“Chen Feng!” Just as the team was about to leave, a girl walked into the gym.

At her entrance, everyone’s eyes lit up.

It was Fang Yue.
