From a distance, Anran witnessed the scene unfold. The news that Chen Feng had applied to take the college entrance exams ahead of schedule was something she had “accidentally” spread herself. In truth, she had never regarded Chen Feng with much respect; how could someone so base, like a pig or a dog, even dare to compare himself to her?

Yet, Chen Feng insisted upon comparing himself to her, as if he were worthy of such a comparison. Anran watched, tacitly approving of Zhang Hao and his friends’ actions. She felt it necessary to teach this reckless fool a lesson, to show him just how vast the gap in this world truly was.

But reality did not quite align with her expectations. Chen Feng actually struck out, and did so without a shred of mercy.

“Anran?” Zhang Hao felt emboldened when he saw Anran speaking up for him. He stared at Chen Feng and shouted, “Chen Feng, do you even know what you’re doing? How dare you assault a classmate! Let me go, now! Let me go!”

Bang!

Before the words had finished leaving his mouth, Chen Feng seized his collar and slammed him against the wall. With a thunderous crash, Zhang Hao felt his entire body collide violently, his organs seeming to shift out of place; he couldn’t catch his breath and nearly lost consciousness.

“I said, apologize,” Chen Feng demanded coldly, his tone unchanged by Anran’s arrival, his icy voice almost freezing the bones of those who heard it.

It must be said, after what happened last night, Chen Feng now carried a fierce aura. He had killed a man; every gesture, every word, carried a chilling power.

“You…” Under Chen Feng’s gaze, Zhang Hao felt his whole body tremble. The courage he’d regained vanished in an instant, replaced by terror. He stammered, “Fang Yue, I’m sorry, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have insulted you!”

His voice shook uncontrollably, and his cowardice made Anran frown in disdain.

“How disappointing—Zhang Hao turns out to be nothing but a weakling, all show and no substance,” Anran thought with contempt.

As soon as Chen Feng released him, Zhang Hao collapsed onto the floor. Ignoring him, Chen Feng turned to Anran and spoke slowly, “Anran, what a coincidence.”

“It certainly is,” Anran replied coolly, easily catching the implication in Chen Feng’s words, but striving to maintain an indifferent tone.

Chen Feng snorted. He had no special fondness for Anran, nor could he stand her lofty attitude. Still, every person lives their own life; if Anran wanted to remain above everyone else, so be it, as long as she left him alone. If she provoked him, however, he would not make things easy for her.

He glanced at Anran again and said calmly, “Anran, I know you’re top of the class, but don’t resort to these petty tricks. It only makes you look insecure. If you want a fair contest, who’s afraid of whom?”

Anran’s face paled for a moment, then she retorted coldly, “I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”

Chen Feng looked at her, then smiled faintly. “Of course you don’t. That’s best.”

With that, he turned, gently wrapped his arm around Fang Yue’s slender waist, and said, “Let’s go.”

Anran bit down lightly on her pearly teeth, watching Chen Feng’s departing figure. She exhaled quietly, murmuring to herself, “Chen Feng, we’ll see about that.”

Chen Feng was watching Anran as well. He had never underestimated her; she was truly brilliant, and possessed a refined inner energy. But that didn’t mean Chen Feng feared her. After last night, he had learned an important lesson: sometimes, you can’t simply withdraw from trouble. You may wish for peace, but others may not let you have it.

“However—”

Chen Feng suddenly noticed something. He waved his left hand, and the Extraction System appeared before him. Staring at the screen, he wondered silently whether he should extract Anran’s fifteen years of pure inner strength.

“No, better to proceed step by step and extract the full version of the Captain America super soldier serum first,” he muttered.

“What are you talking about?” Fang Yue asked curiously.

“Nothing, just thinking about something. Alright, let’s go.” Chen Feng shook his head slightly, casting aside the thoughts in his mind. Such petty tricks didn’t concern him. If not for Zhang Hao’s foul mouth, Chen Feng wouldn’t have bothered to teach him a lesson. Minor matters rarely troubled him.

As for Anran, her methods were really quite crude.

A faint smile appeared on Chen Feng’s lips. In the end, let strength speak for itself.

After school, Chen Feng led Fang Yue out of the gates and saw a familiar Maserati waiting.

Jiangzhou was a major city, and Jiangzhou No. 1 High School was one of the top schools in the province. Yet, even so, a white Maserati parked out front was still strikingly conspicuous.

Many students craned their necks to peer inside, eager to see who it might be.

Every student was stunned; some boys even swallowed nervously.

Some wanted to approach, but upon seeing the white Maserati, their courage faltered. Moreover, the woman inside radiated an invisible aura; standing before her, people felt compelled to lower their heads.

It was Xiao Yu.

A helpless, wry smile appeared on Chen Feng’s face. Though Xiao Yu appeared so noble and untouchable now, he knew well that when she turned on her charm, she could make any man’s blood boil.

Under everyone’s gaze, Xiao Yu walked up to Chen Feng.

“My goodness, a white Maserati—she’s a classic rich beauty!”

“Wow, who is that guy? Isn’t he Chen Feng?”

“A rich beauty came just to see him? What’s going on?”

Listening to the murmurs around him, Chen Feng sighed softly and smiled at Xiao Yu, “Sister, why did you come in person? You could’ve just called me.”

Xiao Yu smiled, speaking leisurely, “It’s fine. I had nothing else to do anyway. Little brother, I’ve drafted the contract—do you want to come with me to take a look?”

“Alright.” Chen Feng did not refuse.

Deep down, he actually enjoyed spending time with Xiao Yu. After all, she was beautiful.

“Whoa, isn’t that Chen Feng? Why is he chatting with such a stunning woman?”

“Tsk, I know her. That’s Xiao Yu—she’s the CEO, I’ve seen her on TV!”

“How did they end up together?”

Around them, students whispered, many casting jealous glances at Chen Feng, as if wishing to tear him apart.

Watching their conversation, Fang Yue couldn’t help but feel a wave of inferiority. She was confident in her own looks, but compared to this woman, she felt utterly inadequate—the gap between them was simply too great.

While she hesitated, Chen Feng gave her a gentle tug. “Come on, let’s see what it feels like to ride in a Maserati.”

Meanwhile—

Anran, too, walked out of the campus, drawing everyone’s attention.

Her gaze swept over Xiao Yu, and her face showed deep shock.

Xiao Yu.

How did Chen Feng know Xiao Yu?

Under the night sky, Anran was frozen in place, dumbstruck by what she saw.

(The plot here is a bit subdued; for the protagonist to truly deal with the Luo family, his strength needs a considerable boost. He can’t always rely on others, can he?)
