Chapter Fourteen: The Harassing Pauldrons
These days, there really are all kinds of people. Running into someone named "Idiot" was one thing, but to think that out of millions of people, someone would actually use the name "Idiot" as their Reforged Era ID—now that's truly unbeatable. Huang Yunshuo took a screenshot of Idiot's avatar, then started filtering through the list. At last, he found Idiot's ID.
"Idiot, are you useless or what? Level 1, 0 out of 100 experience—have you seriously not even managed to kill a single chick all day, you moron?"
Huang Yunshuo burst into laughter. The others silently wiped their sweat. This brainless streamer might lack intelligence, but his gaming skills were truly impressive—already level 3 with several pieces of equipment. He actually had the right to mock them.
Idiot retorted angrily, "Are you going to send it or not, damn it?"
"Quite the temper. Take your stuff and get lost," Huang Yunshuo snorted, placed the micro-spray up for trade, and confirmed the transaction. A prompt signaled the trade was successful.
"Poetry and Song Butterfly… Are you an idiot too? Zero experience, and you even broke your wooden shield?" Huang Yunshuo sneered, completely disregarding the fact that she had sent him a yacht as a gift and was likely a delicate, soft girl. He mocked her mercilessly.
Poetry and Song Butterfly was muted and couldn’t speak, but that didn’t stop the audience from cursing Huang Yunshuo out.
"If I send gifts, I’m a dog. Damn, you’re almost leveling up, so why do you still want the spray? I’m taking it for myself!" Huang Yunshuo checked the account of "If I Send Gifts I’m a Dog" and noticed they were just one chick away from leveling up. He immediately closed the trade window.
"If I Send Gifts I’m a Dog": "Daddy, please give it to me! I want the spray!"
The audience: "We give up."
"Fine, since your attitude is good, I’ll be a good guy for once," Huang Yunshuo grumbled, then traded the spray to If I Send Gifts I’m a Dog.
"Stupid streamer, you ***! ** you and your ***!"
No sooner had "If I Send Gifts I’m a Dog" received the gift than they turned around and unleashed a torrent of curses at Huang Yunshuo, much to the viewers’ delight.
"You little brat," Huang Yunshuo laughed and cursed back without taking it to heart, then added, "Three hours from now, don’t bother coming to watch the stream—you idiots. I suddenly don’t want to see any of you."
With that, he ended the stream.
"Today’s live broadcast lasted 42 minutes, gained 6,102 new followers, and received gifts worth 259,021 Star Coins."
"You all still showed up, didn’t you," Huang Yunshuo grumbled as he glanced at the notification, casting a dark look at the people clustered around the sofa watching him.
"Stream over?" Ye Piaoxue asked.
"Yeah. Follower count’s over six thousand now, and I’ve received gifts worth more than twenty thousand credits. After deductions, I’ll get a bit over ten thousand. It’s just wonderful," Huang Yunshuo laughed heartily.
Instantly, everyone crowded around him.
Even Li Nan, who was usually aloof and only interested in research, came over, peering curiously at the light energy tablet screen in Huang Yunshuo’s hands.
Yu Shiyin stared at the figures on the screen, astonished. "Huang, how can you insult people like that and still get over six thousand followers and so many gifts? How is that even possible?"
"I have no idea—maybe they're hoping for a chance to insult me back next time," Huang Yunshuo shrugged. He wandered briefly on Starry Sky Live, noticing that Reforged Era streams were springing up everywhere like mushrooms after rain, though most were struggling for viewers.
Just as he was about to log back in, Yu Shiyin said, "Li Nan and Shengsheng have finished analyzing the samples you collected, Huang."
"There’s a rich concentration of tough iron elements, plus traces of silver and natural chromium-nickel alloy. It’s crucial for our ship. Everyone, level up for three days; after that, we’ll set up shifts for full-scale mining!"
Everyone’s face lit with excitement, and Huang Yunshuo pumped his fist in understanding.
He decided to tell them about the Cangdong situation after the sampling was done. Mining was more important—the Bright Mirror was just too old. Every bit of repair meant a little more safety.
"Alright, back to chicken slaughtering!"
Huang Yunshuo rushed to the frontlines of the human-versus-chick war, noticing that many players hadn’t logged off at all. They must be using eco-pods or upgraded Hurricane helmets. He was envious as hell.
He glanced jealously at the crowd. Damn it, serves you right for getting your monsters stolen by me!
"Let’s try killing a full-health chick." He couldn’t just stay in the chick zone forever. As nice as the experience was, there was no point without ambition—otherwise, he’d be no better than a salted fish.
He found a quiet spot, whacked a chick and sent it flying, then chased after it with another blow before sprinting off.
-10!
-9!
The chick, furious, jumped up and flapped its useless little wings at him. With his agility now at 20, Huang Yunshuo easily kept ahead. The chick was just a level 1 mob, no way it could catch him; it chirped frantically in frustration.
"I bet its agility is around 15. Damn, I’m impressed," Huang Yunshuo mused, gauging the chick’s speed.
When players first entered Reforged Era, their stats capped at 10. Yet here was a level 1 monster with 50% more agility than the highest possible player stat. No wonder players were getting slaughtered.
Once he’d put a ten-meter gap between himself and the chick, it lost aggro and started spinning in circles. Huang Yunshuo dashed up and smacked it again, then hit the chick that had just landed on the ground.
-21!
-10!
A full-health kill!
Five copper coins dropped to the ground, along with a tuft of chick down and a piece of equipment radiating a dull gray glow!
"Equipment! Five copper coins!"
Huang Yunshuo's eyes widened.
This must have been the true drop rate for solo kills. Most people just ganged up on chicks, lowering the drop rate. It made sense.
"This is damn awesome!"
He picked up the coins and the chick down, then grabbed the gray equipment.
Harasser Shoulder Pads, Level 1
Defense: +2
Constitution: +2
Agility: +2
Well, well!
Another three attributes, each boosted by 2—6 more points just like that. With 80 health and 7 defense, even if the chick pecked him, he’d only lose 13 health per hit. He could just stand there and let it peck him seven times. Absolutely wonderful.
The Harasser Shoulder Pads were on par with the gear made by Granny Sun from chick down. Soon, Huang Yunshuo would be fully equipped.
"Die, you little brat!"
With another swing, he sent a chick flying and began his solo farming routine. His 22 agility left the chicks in the dust, allowing him to kill them one after another. By the time he finally reached level 5, he’d picked up a Harasser Armor, Harasser Boots, and had an extra Harasser Armor in his backpack.
Harasser Armor, Level 1
Defense: +3
Constitution: +2
Harasser Boots, Level 1
Agility: +3
He put all 10 free attribute points into strength. With the equipment bonuses, his stats skyrocketed again.
Idiot, Level 5
Class: Frost Hawk
Human, Bloodthirst: 0
Constitution: 20
Strength: 47
Agility: 29
Intellect: 7
Health: 100
Mana: 35
Attack: 12-15
Defense: 10
Going from level 3 to 5, Huang Yunshuo had collected 197 copper coins and 51 chick downs. His experience for the next level was 5/350. Killing chicks now only gave half experience, so Huang Gaohan planned to move on to the level 2 monster zone.
