Chapter 144: A Thorough Analysis of Your Cousin
“Let’s be reasonable. My cousin is a Champion Aria player. She showed me her stats before, and even after equipping a staff, she only had 63 attack... Can someone tell me what level of big shot this damn streamer is now?”
A viewer named Kilwahara shouted out.
“You have such an insanely powerful cousin? Brother, from today onward, we’re friends!”
“If you don’t bring your cousin into the stream, what the hell are you even talking about?”
“So you’re saying this Wise Master’s attack is more than twice that of an ordinary Champion Aria player?”
Something went wrong with the drop rate from the ten roosters.
Perhaps because Huang Yunshuo was already level twenty-three, the drop rate for copper coins and materials had become pitifully low.
Still, when he saw the neat ten rooster feathers along with three Life Gem Fragments, he breathed a sigh of relief.
The feathers were what he wanted. The gem fragments were an unexpected bonus. Excellent. It looked like he could stay here a while longer.
He would try to farm one more Flawed Life Gem. Socketing it into his Frenzied Cloak would be pretty nice too. Then he could recover eight health every five seconds. Sweet.
While waiting for the roosters to respawn, Huang Yunshuo took out his pickaxe and customized his mining routine. Whenever he had nothing else to do, he chatted and bragged with the viewers.
“Your cousin’s attack isn’t low at all. Sixty-three is a normal level for a highly skilled player.”
By then, the entire livestream had been whipped into a frenzy by Kilwahara. Many people were discussing the differences between Kiss of Cerberus players, Champion Aria players, and ordinary players.
“Let me do the math for you,” Huang Yunshuo explained patiently. “A Champion Aria melee weapon has thirty to thirty-five attack. Using the maximum value of thirty-five, your cousin has twenty-eight even without equipping Champion Aria gear.”
“Do you know what twenty-eight means? If we calculate according to the five-to-one ratio for Strength and Agility bonuses, that’s a combined total of 168 points! How far behind are you ordinary players in those two attributes? Don’t you people have even the slightest idea?”
“168 points? Holy crap.”
“I’m level fourteen right now. Even if I’d put every attribute point into Strength since the moment I was born, I’d only have sixty-two points, and about twenty-three in Agility. Including my Strength and Agility equipment, I’d have at most 120 points. That gap is way too huge.”
Huang Yunshuo snorted. “And don’t forget, Kilwahara, your cousin is a mage, so she must have put a huge number of attribute points into Intelligence. If she had allocated her free attribute points to Strength and Agility like you people do, she’d have at least 180 points.”
In truth, Huang Yunshuo’s Rocket Launcher only had an attack power of 83–91. His astonishing actual damage output came entirely from the incredibly precious three points of Physical Penetration he had stacked up.
This was still the early game, when everyone carefully calculated their attributes down to the individual points.
Once the game reached its middle and late stages, with attributes routinely numbering in the thousands or even tens of thousands, the bonuses would become even more terrifying.
That was why Huang Yunshuo felt so ecstatic when he obtained Physical Penetration.
That was the reason.
“...”
“Fine, a Champion Aria player really is a Champion Aria player. Whether you can get there or not still comes down to ability. With such a huge gap in attributes, I don’t even know which direction I should start working toward. I give up.”
“Wise Streamer, a streamer I follow who plays the Winged race is cursing you out in his livestream. Want to go watch the show?”
“I Give Gifts, I Am a Dog” shouted.
Huang Yunshuo’s impression of this guy was still stuck at the stage where he had begged to call Huang Yunshuo “Daddy” before receiving benefits from him, then immediately turned hostile and pretended not to know him afterward. At those words, Huang Yunshuo could not help laughing.
“What kind of good streamer could someone as wise as you possibly follow? No need to guess. That Winged streamer is definitely a useless piece of trash. Am I right?”
I Give Gifts, I Am a Dog froze for a moment. “Motherfucker, didn’t you just insult yourself too?”
“I am a useless piece of trash. I’ve only appeared in the all-server announcements a few times.”
Huang Yunshuo spread his hands, wearing an unmistakably smug expression.
“Fuck you... Hurry up and shut the hell up.”
“Wise piece of crap, stop showing off and tell us about that Winged streamer.”
“Are they about to go to war? A professional shit-talker of ten years is looking forward to this!”
I Give Gifts, I Am a Dog said, “He has more than 300,000 followers, after all, and his usual viewership is around 100,000. He does have some influence. You’re already completely infamous in his livestream!”
“Most of the people watching him are probably Winged players. Those winged bastards must hate me by now.”
Huang Yunshuo looked delighted with himself. “When I was riding Kokoro’s face and blasting away, those dog bastards were still struggling around on the ground. And they call themselves a flying race? That’s fucking hilarious.”
“Damn... Butterflies can’t fly before they grow wings either, but somehow that still hit me right in the funny bone. Hahaha!”
“Are there any Winged bastards watching this stream? Honestly, I can’t stand those pricks either!”
“Exactly! We’re all running around on two legs on the ground, and you spend every day saying, ‘I’ll be able to fly someday. Once I take to the skies, I’ll be your daddy...’ Fucking hell, if you’ve got the guts, come be your grandpa’s daddy right now!”
Huang Yunshuo scratched his neck.
“100,000 viewers? Does his livestream really only have 100,000 people watching?”
He glanced at his own livestream. He had started with 500,000 viewers, and the number had now surged to nearly 700,000.
His follower count had also risen from just over 600,000 to 650,000.
The numbers were climbing far too quickly, so unrealistically quickly, that Huang Yunshuo had become rather numb to them.
Riding the wave of the all-server announcement, then the second wave created by Radiant Hymn, which was especially popular among female players, and now a third wave caused by his attack on the entire Winged player community, Huang Yunshuo honestly felt that his follower count was increasing a little too slowly.
Most players probably did not even know he was a streamer. And even if they did, they likely had no idea that he was not broadcasting on Starry Sky, but on a much smaller independent-media platform.
“I’ve suddenly had an interesting idea.”
An idea surfaced in Huang Yunshuo’s mind, and his heart began pounding.
Just then, the ten roosters respawned.
Huang Yunshuo had no choice but to suppress the thought for the time being. He charged forward with his Rocket Launcher, unleashing another barrage of explosions. This time, he came away completely unharmed. He did not even need to use his knockback skill to create distance before finishing them off.
His Rage skill had already been triggered.
He gathered the drops: two Life Gem Fragments and ten feathers. At this rate, he would probably need to fight two more rounds to collect nine gem fragments. By then, he should have enough gems, and he would also have 120 rooster feathers. That would count as a perfect completion of the quest.
“I was saying, I’ve suddenly had an interesting idea...”
Huang Yunshuo ducked into the mine and eagerly opened the livestream interface. Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly froze.
The chat had exploded!!!
Just moments ago, everything had been perfectly normal. The five subchannels had been busy, but still within the usual range, and he had been able to catch the rapidly scrolling messages.
But what the hell was happening now?
