Chapter Fifty-Nine: Universal Miniature Stimulant Spray (Favorites Rising Higher and Higher)
“Damn it, you dared to kill me in seconds?”
Huang Yunshuo stowed away his rocket launcher and iron shield, boosting his agility, and charged forward in a fury. With one hand, he grabbed a sloth, tucked a second under his arm, and wedged a third between them, then sprinted back.
The sloths that had fallen were slow to react, as if their brains had been rattled, barely able to struggle, and he tossed them onto the grass in one swift motion.
Huang Yunshuo piled the three little creatures together, then unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks. Damage numbers in the twenties and thirties danced above their heads, and the three sloths soon perished, leaving behind a scatter of copper coins, a vial of potion, and a pair of gloves.
No sooner had Huang Yunshuo gathered the loot than a series of whistling sounds filled the air.
The sticky net was assaulted, its durability plummeting by more than ten points in an instant!
“You abused small animals, so their friends are here for revenge.”
Morning Dew Light Frost spoke with exasperation, unwilling to comment on Huang Yunshuo’s childish display.
The pair hurriedly took up their weapons and got to work. Knowing that once the sloths were knocked from the trees they’d lose their combat abilities, Huang Yunshuo aimed his rocket launcher at the lower branches, while Morning Dew Light Frost picked off those that slipped through his attacks.
In the blink of an eye, over a dozen adorable sloths had fallen to the ground, some sitting, others sprawled, all lazily unmoving; their health, originally 120, now mostly halved by explosions and falls.
Huang Yunshuo switched to his iron sword and dashed out.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Three nuts flew from who knew where, knocking off nearly 120 of his health.
“Oh my god!”
Terrified, Huang Yunshuo dove back into the sticky net, continuing to clear out the sloths that sniped from above.
Once things seemed under control, he charged out again.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
More nuts struck, leaving Huang Yunshuo barely alive. He retreated back to the sticky net, his face dark with frustration.
“Nearly thirty little creatures have fallen, why aren’t we done yet?”
Spraying himself with potion, Huang Yunshuo grumbled.
Fox Softly said, “Those attacking you just now were sloths from the upper canopy. It’s too high for us to reach.”
Morning Dew Light Frost suggested, “Let’s move the sticky net forward, and upgrade it once we’re there.”
The three grabbed the wooden stakes pinned to the ground and pushed the sticky net ahead.
With no targets exposed, the attacks they suffered became much more sporadic.
They secured the sticky net in place, and Huang Yunshuo rushed out with his iron sword, hacking nonstop.
Experience points flashed: +14, +15. Experience was shared equally, meaning each sloth gave 40 points.
Seeing their comrades slain, the canopy sloths grew furious once more, raining nuts down like a storm.
“Quick attack!”
Huang Yunshuo reloaded 10% faster, and in a blink emptied a magazine of rockets.
“There are more sloths on the thickest tree, all up high, and my range isn’t enough!”
Watching the sticky net’s durability plummet, Morning Dew Light Frost grew anxious.
Huang Yunshuo had an idea.
He aimed his dark rocket launcher at the crown of the thickest tree.
“Knockback!”
A beam of white light struck the trunk, and with a loud bang, the tree shook violently as if hit by a heavy force.
A shockwave rippled outward, and more than ten sloths fell from the tree like rain.
“Hahaha!”
Huang Yunshuo was delighted. He realized he’d been using the wrong weapon all along; the knockback skill was the best way to dislodge sloths!
With the sloths down, the sticky net suffered far fewer attacks.
After a thirty-second cooldown, Huang Yunshuo fired another knockback, blasting sloths from another heavily guarded area.
Morning Dew Light Frost, ever sharp-eyed, loosed arrows at any missed sloths. The two worked for a full ten minutes, the sticky net’s durability dropping to thirty-four, finally confirming that no sloths lingered nearby.
“It’s time for the harvest!”
Huang Yunshuo rolled up his sleeves, and the three rushed out, slaughtering the adorable sloths scattered across the ground.
Experience points surged nonstop. After nearly sixty sloths were eliminated, the trio gained over 2,500 experience points combined.
They gathered up the net and withdrew from the grove, Huang Yunshuo laid out all their spoils.
“These sloths have an amazing copper drop rate, about ten coins each on average!”
He pointed to a pile of 588 copper coins.
“But the premium sticky net costs 800 copper coins,” Fox Softly pouted. She’d barely contributed in the battle, and felt guilty.
“But look at these!”
Huang Yunshuo excitedly displayed fourteen small spray vials and four pairs of gloves.
Small Excitement Spray (PvE): 5 uses remaining
Effect: Increases PvE damage by 5% for one minute.
Sloth Gloves, Level 10
Attack: 4–6
10% chance to slow the target by 5%
“Another monster that drops weapons!”
The three were thrilled.
The price of Carrot Batons had skyrocketed, with nearly every one snapped up for 300,000 credits on the black market.
Who could guess how much the sloth gloves, with higher stats and a slow effect, might sell for?
Here, Morning Dew Light Frost’s mastery as a Frost Archer became clear.
The gloves had only a 10% chance to slow by 5%, but Morning Dew Light Frost could slow every shot, stacking the effect—what a difference!
“There’s also a large Excitement Spray!”
Fox Softly picked up a vial and read the label.
“Small Excitement Spray, 10 uses remaining. Effect: Increases damage by 5% for one minute.”
Morning Dew Light Frost’s eyes brightened. “Doesn’t say PvE?”
“No restrictions!”
“Wow, another great item.”
Huang Yunshuo was invigorated.
No wonder the level six monster zone was so dangerous—it dropped such good loot.
“Sloth gloves can sell for 1,500 copper coins, or forty to fifty thousand credits.”
“PvE Excitement Spray boosts damage by 5% for five minutes; with an attack stat of 30, that’s barely 32, not worth much—sell for 100 copper coins.”
“PvP Excitement Spray, now that’s powerful. Anything that boosts PvP damage is premium, and it can be used ten times—500 copper coins, easily.”
Huang Yunshuo swiftly appraised the loot’s value.
In other words, despite nearly destroying the premium sticky net, the trio earned over 8,000 copper coins, not counting experience gained.
“First step, every step ahead! Hahaha!”
Huang Yunshuo was elated. The main profit depended on current weapon prices; if everyone had a Carrot Baton, sloth gloves wouldn’t fetch much.
He took out repair materials, and the three began patching the sticky net.
It was a tedious process: together, each 1% repair took ten seconds and cost five copper coins in materials.
The recurring cost of using the premium sticky net was five hundred copper coins plus repair time, which made Huang Yunshuo feel much better.
“Brother Huang, Sister Frost, why don’t you keep hunting monsters? I’m not much help anyway—I can repair the sticky net outside!” Fox Softly suggested, knowing Huang Yunshuo had another net in his backpack.
Huang Yunshuo stroked his chin. “Good idea! But your repair speed alone is too slow—only twenty percent in ten minutes. How about you hire another player to help? That’ll speed things up, and when we come back, we can swap out.”
With that, he traded Fox Softly a hundred copper coins on the spot, confident no one would refuse her offer.
