Michael hesitated for a moment, then smiled and left.

The future of the world? Was that something he needed to worry about? Right now, he only needed to take care of himself.

Now was definitely the best time. The Ancient One was not dead yet, and Odin was still holding on. The last great battle was already the biggest crisis Earth had ever encountered.

The upcoming plot developments would be Thor: The Dark World and Iron Man 3.

Malekith would bring the Aether to Earth and then engage in a fierce battle with Thor.

The Aether was simply a form of the Reality Stone. Those trash Dark Elves couldn't wield the Reality Stone, so they processed it into the Aether and grandly called it the invention of the ultimate weapon.

That Aether didn't look all that powerful to him; they certainly knew how to toot their own horns.

He only needed to wait quietly now.

He would set a small goal for himself first: collect all six Infinity Stones.

As for Thanos, what I give you is yours, and what I don't give you, you cannot snatch.

Haha, just thinking about it made him a little excited.

...

Marcus and Mike walked down the street, their pace growing increasingly hurried until Mike could barely keep up.

"What is it, Marcus?"

"We're being tracked."

"What?"

Taking numerous turns and hopping on and off several buses, the two finally shook off the tails behind them.

Hiding inside a coffee shop, they sat in silence for a moment before Marcus said, "We can't keep investigating. If we keep digging, both of us are going to die."

"Why?"

Mike looked bewildered.

"Do you remember what Morbius told us?"

"I remember. He hinted that someone higher up knows why these people died."

Marcus nodded grimly and said, "That's what I mean. Since the higher-ups don't want us to know, their deaths naturally aren't from natural causes. If you and I insist on investigating the cause of death, I'm afraid those people above will take care of us first. But if we don't investigate the cause of death, there's no way we can topple the mountain that is Morbius."

Marcus's meaning was crystal clear: continuing the investigation was a dead end, so they might as well give up right now.

Mike hesitated and said, "So we just stop investigating?"

"Yeah, we stop."

As soon as the two finished their coffee and stepped out of the café doors, they were knocked unconscious.

When they woke up and opened their eyes, they saw an elderly man with white hair, yet full of vigor and spirit.

Relying on his memory, Marcus quickly recalled who this was: Alexander Pierce of the World Security Council.

Marcus surveyed his surroundings. Two men in black guarded the door, while the others stood at various strategic positions. No matter which direction someone tried to break out, it would be a dead end.

These people were professionals.

If his guess was correct, the unmentionable causes of these deaths definitely violated the bottom line of the law, and perhaps even the bottom line of high society.

Yet he hadn't even begun his investigation and knew nothing at all—what was the point of them being kidnapped?

Marcus was deeply puzzled.

Pierce asked calmly, "How is the case coming along?"

Marcus forced a bitter smile. "It's difficult. We can't find a motive, nor can we trace any other leads. It's like running into a dead end."

"Is that so? Didn't Michael Morbius say anything to you?"

Mike stopped pretending to be groggy, sat straight up, and blurted out, "He didn't say a thing! I swear, he said absolutely nothing! Everything was just our speculation, including the possibility that you might be the mastermind."

Pierce froze for a second, even wondering if he was experiencing auditory hallucinations.

Then he looked at Marcus and asked, "Did he really say nothing at all?"

Marcus: ...

I'm exhausted, just destroy the world already.

Driven by a fierce survival instinct, Marcus struggled to say, "He really didn't say anything! Everything—no, wait, we don't know anything at all! I was already prepared to drop the investigation. The case is just too complex, and I can't crack it."

Pierce smiled and said, "No, you must continue the investigation. And the killer is none of other than the former member of the Avengers, Michael Morbius."

"Do you understand?"

Mike gave a start and immediately said, "Understood, I understand! As soon as we get back, we'll draft the paperwork and issue an arrest warrant for Michael Morbius."

"Very good. I look forward to your news."

Pierce made a hand gesture, and a few subordinates stepped forward to untie them.

Marcus and Mike massaged their wrists, then asked, "Can we leave now?"

"You may. But remember this: you have never seen me."

"Right, of course we've never seen you."

Just like that, Mike and Marcus successfully escaped with their lives.

After the two left, Pierce summoned a subordinate and instructed them to silence the pair if the mission failed.

The moment they escaped, Marcus grabbed Mike by the neck and said angrily, "You bastard, playing the fool at a critical moment like that! Do you have any idea how close you came to scaring me to death?"

Mike shoved him away and retorted, "As if you didn't know! If I hadn't acted a little more foolish, would they have let either of us walk out alive?"

After bickering for a while, Mike said dejectedly, "What do we do now?"

"We take it one step at a time. With the current evidence, prosecuting Michael is useless."

"Then what?"

Marcus thought for a moment and said, "Let's see if that young lady can bring back any leads."

...

Suzi had already fused with the Asgardian divine genes and stepped out of the container.

She was now essentially an Asgardian who had awakened divine power, though she still didn't know how to wield her strength properly.

"Hi there, young lady."

Suzi raised her head and saw a one-eyed Black man.

Anyone who looked like this right off the bat was obviously no good. Coupled with the fact that he was a bald man with a single eye, Suzi's guard instantly spiked.

"Who are you?"

"I think, rather than worrying about who I am, you should be considering how to restore this place to its original state, and how to hack into the local data to delete the remaining logs."

Nick Fury's habit of acting mysterious took over, but he forgot he was dealing with an eccentric, rebellious teenage girl suffering from chuunibyou.

Suzi glanced at the puddles of water around her and her own sticky, damp clothes.

With a flick of her hand, the water surged into a water arrow and shot straight at Nick Fury's chest.

Instantly, Nick Fury felt as though he had been struck head-on by a speeding truck. Fortunately, Suzi still couldn't fully control her abilities, so it didn't cause him fatal injuries.

"Wait, I'm a friend of your brother, the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Having been taught a lesson, Nick Fury instantly learned to behave. Facing this kind of edgy teenager, he had no choice but to keep it brief.

"S.H.I.E.L.D."

Suzi vaguely remembered Michael mentioning it, but she still asked warily, "Why have I never heard of it?"

Nick Fury caught his breath and said, "We're a spy organization. Your brother probably wouldn't go around blabbing about it."

"Oh, so you're here to steal data."

Suzi figured she had run into a kindred spirit; he must have a way.

Nick Fury smiled, pulled open his trench coat to reveal the bandages beneath, and said, "Actually, I'm just here to recover from my injuries."
