Chapter 18: The Difference Between Chasing Girls and Being Chased
"Gentlemen, welcome! I’m Li Qian, a sales consultant in the showroom. It’s a pleasure to serve you. May I ask how I should address you?" Before Chu Lin and Huang Bin even stepped into the showroom, a pretty young woman in a gray and white uniform hurried up to greet them.
Chu Lin was immediately struck by her beauty. She looked to be just out of university, and her face glowed with youthful charm. Her bright, expressive eyes were captivating, and her feminine features were impossible to ignore.
To a boyfriend, she would be the kind of girl whose company was enjoyable in every way a man could imagine. She was also the sort of woman who, at a mere glance, would ignite a man’s imagination about what she might look like undressed.
In short, she was on a whole different level from Yi Yi, his previous acquaintance—far more suitable for a long-term connection.
"My surname is Chu. I’m here to pick up a car," Chu Lin replied with natural poise.
This was the first time in his life he’d set foot in a dealership, let alone one that sold luxury cars like Porsche. Yet he felt no nervousness at all—the money in his account gave him all the confidence he needed. It was as simple as that.
"Mr. Chu, are you interested in the Panamera 4S Executive Extended version?" Having identified him as the principal customer, Li Qian smiled even more warmly. "I noticed you were looking at it from the window earlier. Let me show you over there!"
Her enthusiasm was obvious—after all, Mr. Chu was quite the handsome young man. Attraction knows no gender!
Watching Li Qian’s spirited approach, Chu Lin felt something was amiss. Glancing at his own outfit, which was nothing but cheap streetwear, he suddenly realized what it was.
He’d seen in television dramas and novels that someone dressed like him, walking into a Porsche dealership, would usually be ignored by such an attractive saleswoman. Instead, there would be some clownish sales guy who mocked him, only to have Chu Lin later put him to shame.
But this scene was entirely different.
On reflection, it made sense. Salespeople for brands like this had to be well trained, and the hiring process must be rigorous. They wouldn’t waste time on childish antics. Clearly, it was the screenwriters and novelists who’d never been inside a luxury dealership—they were the real fools, making up nonsense!
"Mr. Chu, this 4S Executive Extended version is finished in Fine White Metallic. It was originally configured by another customer, who selected quite a few optional features..."
"The car hasn’t left the showroom and hasn’t been registered yet. From what I heard, that customer’s family went bankrupt, so the contract was canceled. The advantage is, we’ve already applied for the temporary license plate, so as soon as the paperwork is done, you can drive it away."
Li Qian patiently explained, opening the car door. "You can check if the optional features suit you, or, if you prefer, you can order a new car with your own preferences."
Chu Lin examined the interior and the options. He had to admit, the setup was flashy—exactly to his taste.
"May I try it out inside?" Chu Lin asked.
"Of course, let me give you a tour," Li Qian replied, nodding. As Chu Lin settled into the driver’s seat, she leaned in beside him, perching delicately and softly explaining the features, demonstrating them as she spoke.
A pleasant fragrance of perfume drifted past Chu Lin’s nose, and he couldn’t help but admire Li Qian’s figure from this angle, especially how her uniform accentuated her curves...
He suddenly realized those movies from the West hadn’t lied—uniforms really could be seductive.
"How much is this car, out the door?" Chu Lin asked, making up his mind after her thorough introduction—he really liked it.
"Mr. Chu, this Panamera 4S Executive Extended version has a lot of optional features, plus insurance, purchase tax, and shipping. The total, fully registered and ready to drive, is 1,884,165 yuan."
With over half a million in optional features, no wonder it was so over the top—just his style. Li Qian was actually a bit nervous quoting the price, since Mr. Chu appeared to be in his early twenties. At that age, unless the family was extremely wealthy, few could afford such a car. Yet his outfit didn’t suggest he was from an affluent background.
"I’ll take it. Full payment," Chu Lin replied without hesitation.
"What? Full payment?" Li Qian stared at him, genuinely surprised. Her gaze shifted subtly. There were plenty of rich young buyers, but very few who could pay in full at that age—most relied on their parents for money.
"Let’s sign the contract now," Chu Lin added.
"Um..." Li Qian hesitated, looking a bit embarrassed. "Mr. Chu, you don’t have to pay in full. If you keep your funds in the bank, it’s more flexible. You never know when you might need them..."
Chu Lin understood what she meant, and looked at her with a teasing smile.
He’d heard that dealerships preferred customers to finance their purchases. There was even a saying: 'If you take out a loan, the dealers greet you with a smile; pay in full, and they barely acknowledge you.'
Li Qian grew a bit flustered under Chu Lin’s gaze. "Mr. Chu, would you consider financing the purchase?"
"Doesn’t financing bring more complications later on? Let’s add each other on WeChat first, so I can contact you if I have questions," Chu Lin replied, smiling.
For him, whether he paid in full or financed didn’t matter. What did matter was that the saleswoman’s looks and figure were top-notch—getting her contact information might be the start of a long-term acquaintance.
There’s a saying: Don’t let a good girl slip by, don’t waste a bad girl; as long as you stay true to yourself, every girl is worth knowing.
When out and about, if you meet a beautiful woman—whether you’re single or not—get her contact info first. In today’s world, even if you’re not single, maybe she’s had a fight with her boyfriend, and after a few drinks, you could become her tool for revenge.
"I’ll scan your code, Mr. Chu!" Li Qian responded quickly, pulling out her phone, her pretty face alight with pleasure.
There’s a huge difference in commissions between loans and full payments. The car’s base price brought her very little—selling a basic Panamera with insurance might net her only 2,000 yuan. The real money was in options and financing. If the customer financed, she’d get another 4,000. The higher the options, the higher the commission; this one, with over 500,000 in extras, meant another 4,000 or so. This deal could bring in a total of 10,000.
A commission like that was already a stroke of luck. Those stories online about Porsche salespeople making tens of thousands per car were nonsense—if that were true, she’d have made thirty thousand last month selling five Panameras. What were they thinking?
Mr. Chu could have paid in full, but at her suggestion, he chose to finance. That sort of generosity made a strong impression on her. Besides, what girl wouldn’t be attracted to a handsome, wealthy, and free-spirited man like him?
Chu Lin, having dated many women, noticed the change in her demeanor at once. Suddenly, he realized that flirting had become much easier than before.
Huang Bin, watching from the side, sighed quietly. Chu Lin already had the edge in looks, and now, with a car like this—a real "girl magnet"—he’d have to do nothing at their next gathering but wait for the women to come to him. Meanwhile, Huang Bin’s own prospects for meeting women seemed much bleaker.
Damn! Now he finally understood the saying: 'You worry when your brother is struggling, but worry even more when your brother’s driving a Range Rover.'
