Chapter 25: Two Hundred Each! There’s No Way to Respond to That!
After Chu Lin returned to the shrimp farm, his phone rang.
It was a call from Huang Bin.
As soon as the call connected, Huang Bin’s astonished voice came through: “Chu Lin, incredible! Your oysters are absolutely amazing—better than those little pills, and with no side effects. Do you know what kind of night I had with Lin Nian?”
“I don’t want to know. Whatever you experienced, I experienced the same with Shen Lu,” Chu Lin laughed, clearly understanding that Huang Bin had felt the miraculous effects of the oysters last night as well.
“I have to say it again, these oysters are unreal,” Huang Bin couldn’t help but repeat. Then he added, “I promised to take Lin Nian out for a couple of days, but when we’re back, I’ll come find you for more oysters.”
After hanging up, Chu Lin logged into the game, moved the newly refreshed crystal prawns out, and placed them on the shipping platform at the farm.
Once Liu arrived to transport the prawns, Chu Lin immediately entered the Atlantis map, heading straight for the heap of Atlantis oysters.
With two rounds of refresh, there were now about three hundred of these Atlantis oysters.
Thanks to their "+1 size" attribute, each one was nearly as heavy as a king oyster. In Min City, because of market hype, a single king oyster could fetch ten yuan.
At that price, three hundred Atlantis oysters would bring in just over three thousand yuan.
But after discovering their extraordinary effects, how could he possibly sell them so cheaply?
These were a true powerhouse for men—surely they deserved to be sold as luxury goods.
After all, men are willing to spend in this area; even a tiny pill costs a hundred yuan each, and domestic sales surpass a hundred million pills a year.
That’s nearly three hundred thousand pills a day—men earning only two hundred a day were still willing to spend a hundred on this.
Clearly, men don’t hesitate to spend in this regard.
And that’s not counting those too embarrassed to buy, those lacking access, or those simply unaware of how to get them, since it’s a prescription drug after all.
He’d personally experienced the effect of the Atlantis oyster last night—it was absolutely on par with the little blue pill, if not far more potent than anything he’d known before.
Moreover, those pills come with side effects—mild, but with frequent use, there are real risks, and they require a prescription.
But the Atlantis oyster? It was like refueling while driving, constantly restoring without a need to rest, and there was no sense of fatigue at all—everything was replenished immediately.
The best part was, the benefit didn’t stop when the act was done: as long as the oyster was still being digested, the effects continued.
Pleasure, but with health.
So, he was determined to price these oysters at least twice as high as those pills—selling at two hundred each was hardly excessive.
If not for legal constraints on commodities, he’d have set the price even higher.
Unfortunately, today’s regulations are thorough: no matter how effective something is, once it enters the marketplace as a commodity, you can’t just set the price as you please.
There are comparative product regulations, additional value benchmarks, and so forth.
Take his Atlantis oyster: by comparison, it sits with other oysters, while the added value would be compared to those pills.
The world’s most expensive oysters, Belon oysters from abroad, only fetch eighty yuan apiece.
A single pill costs a hundred.
So, whether by product category or value-added comparison, selling the Atlantis oyster at two hundred each was still within regulatory limits.
If the price went any higher, and no one complained or no authorities noticed, it would be fine.
But if someone did report it, or if the relevant authorities took note, there’d be trouble.
In that case, he’d either need serious capital to resolve the issue, or he’d be writing statements and undergoing official investigations and monitoring.
That was not something Chu Lin was willing to face.
He simply couldn’t afford that kind of risk now—safety came first.
While it was unlikely that anyone would bother, or that officials had the time to care, one could never be too careful. If anything happened, the game system itself might be exposed.
So, weighing safety against higher profits, he decisively chose safety.
Having made his decision, Chu Lin found a bag, packed twenty oysters, left the game, and called the young lady from Zhizhen.
Since he’d had such a smooth collaboration with Zhizhen over the crystal prawns, they were his first thought for these oysters as well.
In the flagship restaurant of Zhizhen, Cai Yao was in high spirits looking over the recent surge in business.
The numbers had climbed significantly over the past few days.
She’d had her staff conduct a survey and found that most customers were coming specifically for the premium crystal prawns, having heard their friends rave about them and wanting to try them themselves.
So the credit for the booming business clearly belonged to the prawns.
And such delicious prawns—she had no idea how he raised them.
She was, however, grateful that she’d previously signed an exclusive supply agreement.
Just as she was thinking this, her phone rang, and seeing the caller ID—Chu Lin—she answered with a bright smile, “President Chu, what a rare pleasure to get your call.”
Chu Lin got straight to the point. “President Cai, I have another seafood product I’d like to discuss with you. Do you have a moment? I’d like to come by Zhizhen.”
“Of course, you’re always welcome,” Cai Yao replied warmly. “If President Chu wants to come, I’ll make time even if I’m busy!”
She meant every word.
For the sake of those prawns alone, she would spare no effort to give him this courtesy.
Perhaps his new product would surprise her again.
After hanging up, Chu Lin drove straight to the flagship Zhizhen Seafood Restaurant on Feifu Road.
Seeing Cai Yao, the Zhizhen heiress, again, his first impression was unchanged: she was as beautiful as ever, her softly curled hair framing her lovely face, her crisp white blouse and black skirt accentuating her figure.
Most importantly, she possessed an unmistakable air of sophistication—a certain magnetism that drew the eye.
Her allure was such that men found it hard to look away.
Yet Chu Lin had no designs on her whatsoever.
He knew well that this heiress was not someone an ordinary girl could compare to; without genuine emotion and offering her the highest level of emotional value, she would never be won over.
For someone like him, who no longer invested in feelings, the last thing he wanted was to get tangled up in something so troublesome. Women like Cai Yao were best admired from a respectful distance.
“President Chu, welcome!” Cai Yao greeted him with even more warmth than last time, rising from her desk and joining him at the guest sofa.
Her gaze was drawn to the bag Chu Lin was carrying.
Sensing her curiosity, he got right to the point and set the Atlantis oysters on the table, opening the bag.
Cai Yao glanced inside, amazed. “Such large oysters—are these king oysters?”
Her surprise was understandable.
In Min City, the term “king oyster” was all the rage, referring to oversized oysters. Though the taste was not always superior, people nowadays craved novelty.
If Chu Lin’s supply truly consisted of only king oysters, it would be a tremendous selling point—she had to have them.
Once again, he was offering only the finest.
She immediately asked, “President Chu, at Zhizhen, we’re always in need of top-quality ingredients. What’s your supply price for these king oysters?”
Chu Lin smiled and named his price. “These oysters are unique—two hundred yuan each.”
“What?” Cai Yao was stunned.
Oysters selling for two hundred apiece?
Outside, even wholesale prices were just a few cents per oyster.
She was at a loss for words, her beautiful eyes fixed on Chu Lin in disbelief, as if to ask if he was joking.
