Chapter 65: Building a Brilliant Future Together with Lin
At Li Quan Law Firm, Chu Yan was in excellent spirits. Among the three who had passed the second-level lawyer assessment this round, it was clear that at such a prestigious firm, merely passing the assessment did not guarantee a foothold. Clients had their own standards when choosing lawyers. For example, even with a simple investment contract, if someone was investing five million, the firm would recommend several lawyers, and the client would choose the one with the most experience. Thus, the recent ten-million investment business she handled for her younger brother was both a testament to her credentials and a valuable addition to her experience.
The firm’s supervisor had promised her that, after completing a few more such cases, she would be seen as sufficiently experienced, and future resources would naturally lean in her favor. The other two who passed the assessment did not enjoy such benefits. Her brother’s business had truly helped her, so when she received his call, she answered with a radiant smile, “You little rascal, what trouble are you up to now, calling your big sister?”
Chu Lin got straight to the point, “The company Chen Feng and I invested in has someone wanting to buy in with eight million. So, I’m bringing you more business. I’ve sent our location to you on WeChat.”
“Good brother, you’re worth all my affection. I’m on my way.” Chu Yan hung up, her face still glowing with happiness.
A nearby lawyer, curious, asked, “Chu Yan, what’s got you so cheerful? Another case?”
“Yes, a client has an eight-million investment matter.” Chu Yan didn’t hide it. Though it was thanks to her brother, having such a brother was, in itself, part of her strength.
“Chu Yan, you just wrapped up a ten-million case a few days ago. I envy you.” The lawyer was genuinely envious.
Who wouldn’t be? She and Chu Yan had joined the firm at the same time, but she still lacked a steady stream of cases and was stuck assisting the senior lawyers.
Chu Yan checked the location her brother sent her: Jinmao Tower in Pingjiang District. It was a commercial building, likely where her brother and his friends had set up their company. She had suspected as much, but upon reaching the ninth floor of Jinmao Tower and seeing the expansive, luxuriously decorated office of “Lin Feng Aquatic Pets,” she was still taken aback. It was impressive at first glance.
“Big sister, they’re in the conference room. I’ll take you in,” Chu Lin came out to greet her and led her inside.
Chen Feng, Liao Hai, and Zhu Xin were already waiting.
When Chu Yan arrived, Chen Feng immediately came forward, “Big sister, thank you for coming out again!” He turned to Liao Hai and Zhu Xin, “Don’t just stand there—greet her!”
Knowing Chu Yan’s identity, Liao Hai and Zhu Xin greeted her warmly. “Big sister, thank you for making the trip.” “We’ll leave the investment contract to you.”
They wouldn’t have been so courteous to just any lawyer, but when the lawyer was Lin’s big sister, it was different.
Chu Yan had seen her share of wealthy heirs, but it was the first time she’d seen several of them treat her with such respect. She couldn’t help but glance at her brother. She wasn’t naive—if so many wealthy heirs wanted to join his project and treated her accordingly, it meant the project was exceptional. She was genuinely happy for him.
“Tell me in detail about this investment.” Chu Yan sat, took out her notebook, and asked for specifics, making careful notes. “I’ve got the details now. I’ll draft the contract when I get back.”
“Thank you, big sister,” Chen Feng said warmly. Suddenly, he remembered something, “Since you’re here, could you help us with another company matter—our onboarding confidentiality agreement, employment contract, resignation contract, shareholder confidentiality agreement, and other business cooperation contracts… We’ll need your help with all these.”
Chu Yan smiled. She had to accept; her brother’s partners had high emotional intelligence. After all, with four hundred thousand for five percent equity, the company’s initial valuation was eighty million. That was the public pitch. They’d just handed her a bundle of legal work. Even top senior lawyers would compete for this kind of business. Normally, at her level, she’d never get such cases. Now, they handed it to her, even apologizing for the trouble.
Even with her brother’s connection, she felt a touch embarrassed.
“In that case, I’ll prepare an authorization letter as well. I’ll bring it along with the investment contract for you to sign.” Chu Yan didn’t hesitate. This was her opportunity, so she agreed and hurried back to the firm. With such luck, she was determined to handle her brother’s company’s legal affairs meticulously. This single batch of work would keep her busy for some time, sparing her from the relentless competition within the firm.
...
After Chu Yan left, Chu Lin turned to Chen Feng, “Alright, big sister will handle the investment contract. Now that we have all the company documents, it’s time to focus on the most crucial matter: where to rent the breeding and cultivation facility.”
Despite “Lin Feng Aquatic Pets” having eighteen million in funds on the books and such a prestigious office, the core issue remained unresolved.
Chen Feng replied, “Lin, we definitely should rent near Beach No. 41. It’s close to your farm and Jinmao Tower. Ideally, we’ll find a farm with existing infrastructure, up for transfer—we just need to renovate it.”
“Agreed.” Chu Lin nodded, “I’ll call the Fisheries Bureau and check things out over there.”
“Alright, let’s go together,” Chen Feng agreed, then asked Liao Hai and Zhu Xin, “Do you two want to come?”
“Yes!” Liao Hai and Zhu Xin answered in unison. Both were clearly interested—even if they weren’t decision-makers, they enjoyed the entrepreneurial process. They had already taken photos of the company and posted them in a grid on their social media, captioned: “Started a company with Lin, striving for the future, proving ourselves!”
Many in their circles liked the post, curious about who Lin was. At least, within Liao Hai and Zhu Xin’s affluent circles, everyone knew they had joined Lin’s venture.
Chu Lin, unaware of this, led the group out of “Lin Feng Aquatic Pets” and pulled out his phone to find Deputy Director Wang’s number.
