Chapter 9: My Brothers Always Want to Be My Eldest Sons!
Chu Lin led Huang Bin inside, then suddenly thought of something and quickly instructed Liu Fa, “Master Liu, could you please go buy two barbecue grills and some seasonings for seafood? I’ll reimburse you later.”
“Of course, President Chu!” Liu Fa replied enthusiastically, driving his small truck out of the shrimp farm toward the suburban market.
The job was so easy now that he was always eager for any task from President Chu, fearing only that there would be none.
Chu Lin brought Huang Bin to a special breeding pool.
At a glance, Huang Bin spotted the inflatable raft floating in the pool. “Can we sit on that for fun?”
Chu Lin picked up a fishing net and replied, “All the seafood in this pool is specially reserved. Not only can we have fun on the raft, but you’ll also need to catch whatever you want to eat for lunch.”
Sure enough, Huang Bin’s interest was instantly piqued. He eagerly took the net, dragged the raft closer, and climbed aboard.
He had never experienced sitting on a raft in a breeding pool, scooping up seafood. The novelty was exhilarating.
Sometimes, a man’s happiness is just that simple.
Thanks to the blessing stone of Atlantis, the water in the breeding pool was crystal clear. Huang Bin immediately spotted the giant Atlantis prawns he’d been longing for and hurried to scoop them up.
But the Atlantis prawns were swift, and with the pool being so large and not overly stocked, they proved difficult to catch.
Just as Chu Lin had expected, this only made the game more entertaining; at least Huang Bin was having a blast.
After catching a few prawns, Huang Bin made another discovery.
“Look at these clams—and scallops? But aren’t these huge?” he exclaimed, astonished.
Previously, all his attention had been on the prawns; he hadn’t noticed the oversized clams and scallops resting at the bottom.
He remembered Chu Lin mentioning a mix of seafood in the pool, not just prawns.
Now his curiosity was thoroughly aroused.
But after fishing up a few scallops and clams, he stumbled upon yet another surprise.
“Wow, sea cucumbers this big!” Huang Bin’s eyes shone with excitement.
He’d eaten plenty of sea cucumbers before, even seen them alive, but never anything of this size!
Unable to hold back, he asked, “Chu Lin, why is all this seafood so much bigger than normal? Where did you get it?”
“Specially cultivated by someone I know. I managed to get a few,” Chu Lin improvised casually.
“We’re going to eat well at lunch, then.” Huang Bin didn’t press further, instead immediately turning his net toward the sea cucumbers.
After catching three, he began snapping pictures of all the seafood he’d gathered.
Their sheer size made them perfect for showing off on social media.
Before long, Liu Fa returned with the seafood seasonings, two barbecue grills, and a batch of charcoal specifically for grilling.
Huang Bin took the initiative to start prepping the seafood and vegetables. He was quite skilled at this, his culinary abilities honed mostly for impressing women—after all, cooking is an attractive talent for a man, unless one’s a professional chef.
Liu Fa was eager to help on the side.
Soon, the two grills were loaded with three scallops, three giant prawns, and three thick slices of sea cucumber.
The unique aroma of grilling seafood began to fill the air, making everyone’s mouths water uncontrollably.
When the first three prawns were ready, Huang Bin passed one each to Chu Lin and Liu Fa, and took the remaining one for himself.
As soon as he tasted it, the smoky barbecue flavor blended perfectly with the prawn’s natural sweetness. He couldn’t help but praise, “Chu Lin, your prawns are as delicious as ever—grilled, they’re even more extraordinary.”
Chu Lin nodded in agreement.
Barbecued Atlantis prawns were indeed a flavor apart.
Huang Bin finished his prawn and immediately put three more prepared ones on the grill.
By then, the scallops were ready too.
He handed one to Chu Lin and one to Liu Fa, keeping the last for himself.
The moment he bit into it, his eyes lit up.
This scallop was just as delicious as the prawn—he’d never tasted anything like it.
“So, what do you think of the scallop, ‘Chu Bin’?” Chu Lin suddenly asked.
Huang Bin replied instinctively, “It’s incredible... Wait, what did you call me? ‘Chu Bin’?”
He froze.
He seemed to recall saying earlier that if he ate anything other than prawns, he’d take Chu Lin’s surname.
Trust a good friend to remember your words at a moment like this.
Chu Lin looked at Huang Bin with a gentle smile. “Chu Bin, these sea cucumbers are special too. They’ll bring benefits you never expected.”
He had no idea why Huang Bin liked to make bets involving taking his surname; this best friend always seemed eager to be his ‘good son.’
Honestly.
Huang Bin shot Chu Lin a look of mock resentment, but seeing the empty scallop shell, he decided that he might as well eat more to get his fill.
He picked up a slice of grilled sea cucumber and put it in his mouth, but the taste was disappointing—just the unique flavor of sea cucumber, none of the extraordinary savor he’d expected.
“Chu Lin, there’s nothing that special about this sea cucumber,” he said.
“Just wait—you’ll see,” Chu Lin replied mysteriously, taking a piece for himself.
He still hadn’t finished digesting the sea cucumber he’d eaten that morning; the warm, comfortable sensation lingered in his body.
It wasn’t long before Huang Bin exclaimed in surprise, “Hey, my whole body feels warm and comfortable all of a sudden!”
Liu Fa echoed, “Me too! What’s happening?”
Chu Lin understood that the sea cucumber was being digested and absorbed. “Didn’t you know sea cucumber can enhance your constitution? That one you just ate wasn’t for nothing.”
“What??” Huang Bin stared at Chu Lin in disbelief. “You’re kidding me. I’ve eaten sea cucumber before and never felt like this!”
“Don’t compare those with mine,” Chu Lin replied, inventing as he went. “These are specially bred, impossible to find on the market. I only managed to get fifty or so.”
Huang Bin realized that all the seafood here was indeed rare. Not just their size, but the flavor and texture—none of it was available outside.
And the sea cucumber really worked; as soon as he ate it, he felt a pleasant warmth throughout his body.
No way could you buy anything like this on the market.
With that thought, Huang Bin declared, “Chu Lin, I’ve decided—I’m coming over to eat whenever I’m free!”
He busied himself at the grill again.
This kind of delicious seafood was simply irresistible.
At that moment, Chu Lin’s phone rang.
It was an unfamiliar number.
Puzzled, he answered it.
The words he heard on the other end left him visibly astonished.
