Chapter 139 Beheading
Seeing that I was about to make a move against the fish-faced, human-bodied beast, Luo Xingtao was extremely nervous and shouted at me, "If you dare to kill the holy beast of my sect, I will surely slaughter your entire family..."
Swish!
Before Luo Xingtao could finish his words, with a sharp swish, amidst the shocked gazes of the Raiment Sect members, the heavy chain in my hand lashed out, tracing a circle around the neck of the fish-faced beast. The next second, the head of their sect's holy artifact "slumped" and dropped to the ground, the fish-like head spinning across the floor until it rolled right to Luo Xingtao's feet.
Hiss, hiss, hiss.
After the monster's head fell off, its body rapidly decayed. What remained before our eyes was nothing more than the headless corpse of a Daoist priest alongside some blackened water plants.
Luo Xingtao never expected that I would act the very second I said I would. Staring at the head of his sect's holy beast at his feet, his hands trembled violently, whether from rage or agitation. Pointing a shaking finger at me, he stammered, "Pi Yangxi, you, you..."
I knew why Luo Xingtao was so agitated. He must have regretted bringing the Raiment Sect's holy artifact out this time to make an enemy of me. He had sneaked the holy artifact out, only for it to die at my hands; I doubted he would have any way to explain himself when he returned.
"Pi Yangxi, how bold of you! You killed my sect's holy beast, and today I shall take your dog's head as atonement!" Luo Xingtao completely lost his sanity, roaring loudly at me.
I picked up the headless corpse of the fish-faced, human-bodied beast from the ground and hurled it toward Luo Xingtao, saying, "You can't take my corpse away, so you'd better take your monster's corpse with you instead. Don't soil my family's grounds."
"Kill them!"
Recovering from his fury, Luo Xingtao shouted at the top of his lungs, and twenty ferocious ghosts soared into the air, charging fiercely toward us.
"Master Liu, I'll leave these good-for-nothings to you!" Watching the twenty malevolent spirits flying toward me, I spun around and hid behind Liu Zhongguo.
"Attack!" Liu Zhongguo said calmly as he looked at the fishermen. Those twelve fishermen whipped their heavy chains through the air, flinging them toward the oncoming ghosts. Yet, just as with my earlier strike, the chains clanged against the sturdy bodies of the fiends, sending sparks flying without causing any substantial damage.
In that brief moment, one of the twenty fierce ghosts had already rushed right up to me. Face-to-face with the spirit, we were practically close enough to kiss. The ghost raised a hand as hard as iron and violently thrust it toward my chest.
I quickly clenched my fists, channeling my inner energy to force all my breath into my chest cavity. The moment the ghost's iron-hard hand struck my chest, with a loud thud, it was bounced right back. I didn't fare much better; absorbing that blow with the breath in my chest didn't scatter my energy, but it sent a wave of intense pain rippling through my entire ribcage.
Thud, thud, thud!
At the same time, I noticed that three or four of the fishermen brought by Liu Zhongguo, being inferior in strength to the fierce spirits, had been blasted backward by the blows, flipping over a row of tables.
Those fishermen who had fallen to the ground possessed inferior internal energy compared to me, but given their youth, being able to withstand a full-power strike from a malevolent ghost meant their capabilities were quite respectable. After rolling on the ground a few times, those struck fishermen quickly scrambled back to their feet and rejoined the formation.
Luo Xingtao looked at the chaotic scene before us with utter triumph on his face, clearly believing that Liu Zhongguo and his men were not as formidable as he had imagined. Glancing at Liu Zhongguo, Luo Xingtao's expression turned mocking as he said, "Mister Liu, although I have no idea who you are, today not only will you fail to protect Pi Yangxi, but you will also die here."
Liu Zhongguo remained silent, his expression completely unchanged. He glanced at the fishermen who had picked themselves up and, seeing they were unhurt, simply said in a calm voice, "Young man, it is still not too late to stop. It was no easy feat for your Raiment Sect to gather these twenty malevolent spirits."
